Staff

Executive Director - Nick Sutcliffe

Nick joins the Mission Squash team from London, UK, and a background of orchestral conducting and strategy consulting. Passionate about squash from an early age, Nick grew up in Yorkshire, England, where as a nationally-ranked junior he observed the development of future World Number 1s James Willstrop and Nick Matthew at close quarters.

Nick studied music at Cambridge University where he earned 4 Full Blues playing squash against Oxford, later winning two County Championships, captaining the Middlesex Men's County 1st Team, and reaching the final of the British Amateur Open, a tournament with a 94-year history. In 2013, Nick founded and managed the Coolhurst London team, leading it to the play-off stage of the Premier League in its second year. He trains with 8-time women's World Champion Nicol David in Amsterdam, and in January 2016, Nick won the Grand Open tournament in New York.

Nick believes that the Urban Squash formula has a unique and transformative power to change lives, and consistently pushes his Mission Squash Scholars to challenge themselves, and their peers, to strive for a better future.

Social Work Coordinator and Athletic Coach - Allison Gideon

Allison graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. She played volleyball at SFA, and recently graduated with her Master’s in Counseling. Allison is thrilled to be part of such an amazing program, and is excited to help challenge and grow the scholars, as well as grow and be challenged herself. Interests: Volleyball, Reading, Psychology

 

Squash Coach - Santiago Moran

Santiago graduated from Connecticut College with a BA in Economics and minor in Latin American Studies. He first started playing when he was in 6th grade as one of the first students at CitySquash, and Urban Squash program in the Bronx, New York. Santiago attended Avon Old Farms, where he was part of the Varsity Squash team all 4 years. Matriculating to Connecticut College, he played on the Men’s Squash team for 4 years, and continued to grow as a player. Santiago is very excited to joined Mission Squash and help the program and its scholars reach their goals. Interests: Soccer, track and field

 

Athletic and Conditioning Coach - Parker Mason

Parker Mason graduated from the University of Texas in 2015. He is a hometown kid having gone to River Oaks Baptist for lower/middle school and then onto Episcopal in Bellaire for high school. He enjoys physical activity and working with kids. He is currently in charge of the strength and conditioning program at Mission Squash. Interests: Fitness, Guitar, Seinfeld
 

Assistant to the Executive Director - Piper Hopkins

After studying abroad for two years in Central America, Piper was able to complete her studies and graduate from high school a year early. She has a passion for working with children and is pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in childhood development. Joining the Mission Squash team as an administrative assistant, Piper makes an extra effort to spend time outside of the office to connect with the scholars to build a relationships where she can provide guidance and mentorship for students. Piper spends afternoons working with the scholars on improving academic performance through homework help and tutoring. She looks forward to seeing their progress both as individuals and as a group. Interests: Tennis, Sailing
